<note>ABSTRAK
Daun melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) merupakan herba dengan daun melingkar, mengkilap, kulit tipis, panjang 1-3,5 cm, lebar setengah dari panjangnya. daun melinjo sering digunakan sabagai bahan obat tradisional, karena memiliki sifat antibakteri, antipiretik terutama untuk menyembuhkan demam tifoid. Bakteri yang menyebabkan demam tifoid adalah Salmonella typhi.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek antibakteri dari ekstrak daun melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) terhadap bakteri Salmonella typhi. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua konsentrasi daun melinjo yaitu 40% dan 80%, chloramphenicol sebagai kotrol positif dan aquadest sebagai kontrol negatif. Pengaruh pemberian daun melinjo terhadap bakteri Salmonella typhi ditandai dengan terbentuknya zona hambat pada konsentrasi 40% diperoleh rata-rata4,85mm, konsentrasi 80% diperoleh rata-rata 6,9mm, kontrol positif diperoleh rata-rata 13,14mm, sedangkan untuk kontrol negatif tidak berpengaruh terhadap bakteri Salmonella typhi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun melinjo secara signifikan mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Salmonella typhi. Dan ada kecenderungan meningkatkan konsentrasi daun melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) meningkatkan penghambatan pertumbuhan bakteri Salmonella typhi.

ABSTRACT
Daun melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) is a herb with circular leaves, shiny, thin skin, 1-3.5 cm long, half the width of the length. Daun Melinjo is often used as an ingredient in traditional medicine, because it has antibacterial and antipyretic properties, especially for curing typhoid fever. The bacterium that causes typhoid fever is Salmonella typhi. This study aims to determine the antibacterial effect of daun melinjo extract (Gnetum gnemon L.) against Salmonella typhi bacteria. This study used two concentrations of daun melinjo, namely 40% and 80%, chloramphenicol as a positive control and aquadest as a negative control. The effect of giving daun melinjo to Salmonella typhi bacteria was indicated by the formation of an inhibition zone at 40% concentration obtained an average of 4.85 mm, 80% concentration obtained an average of 6.9 mm, positive control obtained an average of 13.14 mm, while negative control did not effect on Salmonella typhi bacteria. The results of this study showed that daun melinjo extract was significantly able to inhibit the growth of Salmonella typhi bacteria. And there is a tendency to increase the concentration of daun melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) to increase the inhibition of the growth of Salmonella typhi bacteria.</note>
