<note>ABSTRAK
Minuman berenergi merupakan minuman ringan yang mengandung zat-zat stimulan untuk meningkatkan energi, kewaspadaan, dan meningkatkan performa(Alsunni, 2011). Umumnya pada minuman berenergi memiliki kandungan zat pengawet. Salah satu pengawet yang digunakan adalah natrium benzoate. Konsumsi makanan dan minuman yang mengandung natrium benzoate yang berlebih dapat mengakibatkan efek yang buruk bagi kesehatan, tidak jarang juga dapat menimbulkan kanker. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui kadar pengawet pada minuman berenergi merek A, B dan C. Penetapan kadar menggunakan spektrofotometri menunjukkan bahwa kadar pada minuman berenergi merek A, B dan C secara berturut-turut adalah 40,73 mg/kg, 36 mg/kg dan 46,25 mg/kg. Sesuai dengan ketetapan Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan Nomor 36 Tahun 2013 tentang batas maksimum penggunaan bahan tambahan pangan berupa pengawet pada minuman yaitu 600 mg/kg, maka merek A, B dan C memenuhi ketetapan kadar tersebut.

ABSTRACT
Energy drinks are soft drinks that contain stimulant substances to increase energy, alertness, and improve performance (Alsunni, 2011). Generally, energy drinks contain preservatives. One of the preservatives used is sodium benzoate. Consumption of foods and drinks that contain excess sodium benzoate can cause bad effects on health, not infrequently can also cause cancer. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of preservatives in energy drinks brands A, B and C. Assay using spectrophotometry showed that the levels of energy drinks brands A, B and C were 40,73 mg/kg, 36 mg/kg and 46,25 mg/kg, respectively. In accordance with the provisions of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency Number 36 of 2013 concerning the maximum limit for the use of food additives in the form of preservatives in beverages, which is 600 mg/kg, then brands A, B and C comply with these levels.</note>
