<note>Hyperuricemia  is  a  condition  in  which  uric  acid  levels  in  the  blood  are  greater  than normal values due to excessive purine synthesis in the body and the disruption of uric acid excretion in the body. Water hyacinth is a medicinal plant that contains flavonoid active substances which are thought to reduce uric acid levels by inhibiting the activity of the xanthine oxidase enzyme so that it will reduce uric acid production. The purpose of this study was to examine the antihyperuricemic activity of water hyacinth leaf extract in mice induced by potassium oxonate 250 mg/kgBB intra peritonial and chicken liver juice. The extraction method used is the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent. Using  the  test  animal  male  mice  in  which  20  chickens  were  divided  into  5  groups equally, namely the negative control group CMC Na 0.5%, the positive control group Allopurinol, and the water hyacinth leaf extract group with a dose of 35 mg / kg, 70 mg / kg, and 140 mg / kg. Blood sampling was carried out on day 1 and day 7 after the mice were  induced.  Uric  acid  levels  were  determined  based  on  measurements  using Easytouch & GCU uric acid. The result of effective antihyperuricemic activity was water hyacinth leaf extract at a dose of 70 mg/kgBB showed a decrease in uric acid levels greater than 35 mg/kgBB and 140 mg/kgBB, but not greater than the positive allopurinol control.  Statistical  analysis  used  one  way  ANOVA  with  the  Tukey  method  with  a significant value of p=0.113 (p> 0.05). All groups did not determine which significance was used by the control group.</note>
