<note>Salmonella typhiis a bacteria that causes Salmonellosis which is a serious disease in Indonesia  and  is  still  endemic.  One  of  the  medicinal  plants  which  has  medicinal properties  is  water  hyacinth  (Eichhornia  crassipes(Mart.)  Solms)  which  has  the potential to be antibacterial. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of water hyacinth leaves on Salmonella typhiATCC 1408 bacteria. The leaves of water hyacinth were extracted by maceration using 70% ethanol solvent. The results of water hyacinth leaf extraction with70% ethanol solvent produced ethanol extract with a yield of 6.9%. Based on the results of the phytochemical screening test, the ethanol extract of water hyacinth leaves showed the presence of saponin, flavonoid, and polyphenol class  compounds.  The  ethanol  extract  of  water  hyacinth  leaves  was  tested  for antibacterial  activity  against Salmonella  typhiATCC  1408  using  the  disc  diffusion method. The ethanol extract of water hyacinth leaves was then tested for the inhibition zone and produced antibacterial activity with the largest inhibition zone average in the positive control (Tetracycline) with an inhibition zone of 4.62 mm in the weak inhibiting category,  at  a  concentration  of  10%  with  an  inhibition  zone  of  3.5  mm  in  the  weak inhibiting category, and a concentration of 40% with an inhibition zone of 4 mm in the weak  inhibiting  category.  based  on  the  ANOVA  test  in  the  Test  Statistics  table,  the significance  value  of  0.099  is  greater  than  0.05  so  that  there  is  no  difference  in ingredients and the concentration has a significant effect on the antibacterial activity of water hyacinth leaf extract.</note>
