ABSTRACT
STUDY ON THE USE OF ANTIDIARE MEDICINE AS A SELFMEDICING EFFORT IN “X” PHARMACEUTICAL SIDOARJO IN APRIL
TO JUNE 2021

Diarrhea is a condition of a person who experiences defecation with a condition where the stool
becomes soft or liquid, the frequency is more often usually 3 times. Efforts made by the community
to treat diarrhea are self-medication. Self-medication or self-medication is an act of selfmedicating with simple medicines that are purchased over the counter at pharmacies. The design
of this study used a non-experimental method by conducting a descriptive survey using a
questionnaire, namely by describing the selection of antidiarrheal drugs selected by respondents
for self-medication. This research was conducted in April - June 2021. The results of this study
found that the use of antidiarrheal drugs in self-medication efforts were the most widely chosen
were Diatabs® as much as 34% (n=75), tablets as much as 72% (n=159), one-time use 1 -2
tablets/capsules 64% (n=140), time to drink after defecation 63%(n=139), frequency of use <3
days 71% (n=157), no side effects 71% (n=156 ), action if side effects occur, go to the doctor 54%
(n=119), results after using diarrhea medicine gradually recover 59% (n=129), information
obtained by mass media 41% (n=91), box storage drug as much as 58% (n = 127).
